Last week, I had the great pleasure of attending the 12th Annual Purdey Game and Conservation Awards at Audley House, Mayfair.
One of the great things about working on the Purdey account and the Awards in particular, is the ability to meet a fantastic group of people who are incredibly passionate to not only protecting wildlife but enriching the lives of others.

Six months ago I made the move from journalism to PR at MacLaurin Media. After more than 5 years of working as a news reporter, I’d become fed up of weekly council meetings, daily calls about pot holes in the roads and rogue car clampers, and random stabbings. Obviously there were some good stories (the disabled granny who believed God gave her strength to leap on a burglar and sit on him until the police arrived being a particular favourite), but I wanted to move into PR.

Any parent who has experienced the utter panic when their young children temporarily wander, will identify with the reasons which prompted entrepreneur Sara Murray to develop a GPS tracker called buddi. As today’s Daily Mail reports, Sara was driven to look for a way to keep an eye on her daughter Rowena after she went missing in a supermarket. Her vision and invention resulted in buddi launching nearly four years ago.

About two years ago I was given, as a very special treat, a beautiful ‘Philip Treacy for Purdey’ trilby as a Birthday present by the lovely group of people I work with! I absolutely fell in love with it, as anybody would... very much like the journalist Hannah Betts, who, after her amazing piece in today’s Daily Telegraph, has definitely fallen in love with Purdey.
